WHMIS 1A00
WHMIS 1A00 is an online, non-credit Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Health and Safety course. It will teach you basic laboratory safety.
This course is a co-requisite for all laboratory courses (i.e. BIOLOGY 1A03, CHEM 1A03, etc.). If you have successfully completed WHMIS 1A00 during your first year of studies at McMaster University, you do not need to re-take WHMIS 1A00 in subsequent years if you take any additional courses that list WHMIS 1A00 as a co-requisite.
Important Note: When enrolling in courses in MOSAIC, please ensure that you add WHMIS 1A00 to your list of courses first as it is a co-requisite for all courses with a lab component. Otherwise, you will receive a message stating that you have failed the requisite requirements for any course with a lab component.
This course can be completed through Avenue to Learn (our online learning management system) starting in August. The accompanying quiz must be successfully completed before the start of your first lab. For general inquiries, email eohss@mcmaster.ca
